2016 Summer Alms Recap Video

In the summer of 2016, we collected pocket chage at our services that was divided up and sent out in the hands of some of our church family. This is a recap of how God directed them to use these small gifts to make a HUGE impact!

MESSAGE NOTES:
The Coming Tribulation

1 Peter 5:8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Intro: This is a follow up to my last message on the rapture… its another reason

  • why you want to be ready and
  • why you pray for your loved ones to find Christ and
  • why we must do evangelism and
  • Why we give to the work of God

For to fully understand the reasons of why makes the energy, effort and any sacrifice you make – make sense.

Jesus “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.” Admonition is as relevant today as when he first spoke it. As is Peters – Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8

Today, there are more than just the usual concerns in the minds and hearts of authentic bible scholars and prophets These voices are not limited to just the religious sphere’s but are also being echoed from many spheres of the humanities. Rhetoric and words coming from all corners of the globe, from every nation and languages.… these include spheres of ethical and moral consciousness, scientific reasoning, international finance, and geo-political discussion. The sands of time seem to be moving at a quickening pace.

There is no single Scripture that specifically states that time will speed up, but several passages hint at the reality during earth’s final days. …

Note: Recently, scientists have been shocked to discover that their measurements indicate the expansion of the universe is actually increasing. Rather than slowing down, as their Big Bang theory assumes, astronomers have been stunned to learn that the expansion of the universe appears to be accelerating.1 CNN reports “Scientists are scratching their heads over a finding that indicates the universe, rather than slowing down, is being expanded by a mysterious force at an accelerating rate.”2

– God’s Word has the answer that science seeks  “(God) alone spreads out the heavens…” (Job 9:8). The “mysterious force” is no mystery to a Bible believer. It is God Himself who stretches out the heavens at the pace He sees fit

In 1947 the cover of the Bulletin of Atomic scientist created a symbolic clock depicting the amount of time to nuclear Armageddon/doomsday. At the moment the clock sits at around 5 minutes to D-Day.  I’m not sure if a nuclear war is an absolute for how the world will end, but there certainly are biblical references that could lead you to believe that.

2 Peter 3:7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

2 Peter 3:12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.

Zechariah 14:12 This is the plague with which the Lord will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.

Today, turn on the secular news and you’ll quickly discover that there are more than Christians sensing the potential of global disaster. Secular human agents see the potential of disaster and not just the prophets of God. What the world sees as disaster coming, is what the believer sees as the coming of the Lord. What they conclude and see in the flesh, we conclude and see by the spirit.

What do we see: The nations are drifting more swiftly then ever into lawlessness unrestrained sin (it’s new name is “progressive activism”) but no matter what it is called in our day, the bible characterized these days as the days of Noah, and is an enormous sign predicting the conditions for the coming of the son of man.

Matthew 24:37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

Revolt against the laws of the land, pursuit of sexual perversion across the globe, growth of selfishness including divorce, abortion, same sex marriage and the general breakdown within the family is everywhere, insatiable desire of material possessions, abandonment to all types of earthly addictions (drugs, alcohol, gamboling, pleasure) and a steady decline of the fear of the Lord (Not in only in secular society but also in the church)

Matthew 24:12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,

These plus countless more are pointing to the RETURN!

We are experiencing what Jesus spoke of as the increase of wickedness in greater measure; The Apostle Paul spoke of the same thing in 2nd Thessalonians as “the secret power of lawlessness is already at work”

2 Thessalonians 2:7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.

As we move closer and closer toward the end the restraining power that holds back this lawlessness is going to being removed. And what happens when the grace of God and the Holy Spirit is removed? Total lawlessness takes over the earth and “the man of sin/the son of perdition known as the anti-Christ/beast” is exposed!

What is the precursor for the Anti-Christ’s arrival?

1) Wide-spread deception in Christ’s name (Matthew 24:4-5; 11; 24-26; 2 Thessalonians 2; 2 Peter 2:1-3; )

2) A global cry for peace (1 Thessalonians 5:3).

3) Chaotic climate and weather more prevalent (Luke 21:25-26).

4) Homosexuality flaunted (Luke 17:28-30; Genesis 19; Jude 1:7).

5) Increasing worldwide Anti-Semitism (Deuteronomy 28:37; Jeremiah 29:18; 44:8).

6) Never before imagined Global communications (Revelation 11:9-10; 17:8).

7) Technology capable of tracking the world’s population (Revelation 13:16-17).

8) A move toward a global religion (Revelation 13:8; Revelation 17).

9) A move toward a global government (Daniel 2:40-44; 7:23; Revelation 13:7-8).

10) Russia, Iran & other countries rising and prepare to attack Israel (Ezekiel 38).

11.) Increased interest in the occult, witchcraft, and sorceries (Revelation 9:21; 18:23; 21:8; Isaiah  47:9-15; Micah 5:10-15).

There are only to name a few there are many more last days’ signs that appear to be culminating before our very eyes.

These signs suggest that the time is approaching for significant bible prophecy to be fulfilled. Jesus gave us this prophetic warning in the Olivet Discourse, this way –

Matthew 24:21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be.

These are some of the last words of the Lord before he is crucified on the cross. He points to a terrible day coming upon the earth. We don’t know the exact timing but we do know that it will begin with a world leader arising over all other world leaders. This leader will appear to be wiser, more benevolent, more inspiring and motivational than any other leader or person we have ever known. He will seem logical and intelligent beyond belief, he will have charisma, and charm, he will look to be the answer to everything but he secretly is filled with duplicity and will become nothing but the most vicious dictator that the world has ever known.

The bible calls him the beast (Revelations 13:1-10), the anti-christ (1 John 2:18) , the man of sin (2 Theselonians 2:7) and for a short period of time that consists of seven years but will feel like forever for those living through those years he will bring the greatest distress to the world. The destruction of Israel will be his goal and the destruction of Gods peoples his fulltime agenda.

And with his arrival of the Anti-Christ begins the greatest tribulation the world will endure.

1 John 2:18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.

For seven years tribulation will be upon the earth and the Anti-Christ will rule lulling many into a false sense of security only to totally bring the final days of this earth to a hideous completion. (Revelations 6-19 are the chapters that describe the happenings on earth during this period. The opening of the seven seal, the sounding of the seven trumpets, the pouring out of the seven wraths of God – these are the conditions of the judgments of God )

The first 3½ years of the seven he will be making treaties, deals and promises that other leaders will seem as necessary in keeping their interests protected – there will be major military campaigns going on secret treaties, and backroom deals, which will include many new policies and procedures being put into place to ensure his power and governance. He will be subtle and not likely to be making the front page of the news.  In fact he will use media to spread his propaganda and his policies.

One of his master piece feats will be that – He will design and create a mark which will symbolize your allegiance to the beast. – “The mark of the beast” This mark will represent his world-wide authority and by receiving it you will be secure for the time and moment in order to continue on as usual, except for the fact that you have accepted participation in worshipping the beast.

Revelations 13:16 He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead,

But, (your comfort is that) by accepting it you will still be able to buy and sell. You can buy gas to heat your house, pay your water bill, and buy groceries at Soby’s, coffee at Tim Horton’s, go on your cruises, cross the boarder to get to Florida in winter. You will be able to purchase hockey equipment for your children, boats for your cottages, meat for your bar-b-que’s, You can make your stock trades, and get your tax receipts, and contribute to your RRSP’s … life will go on for you as usual for the small price of bowing to a world leader who has brought peace and security to the world. A small exchange for such a great accomplishment and achievement.

Revelations 13:17 so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.

The governments of the world (Election coming) will enable the strict laws as they side with the benevolent dictator, who will promise world stability with the mark – it will be so compelling to receive the “mark of the beast” for those who don’t will suffer greatly. For those who don’t there will be No mercy. No mercy will be shown to the objectors for they will be seen as bigots, dissenters, trouble makers, and a threat to world peace and all sorts of other problems. No mercy – eradicate the rebels.

The beast will also have a close associate at this time. He is known as the false prophet of revelation.  And he will appeal to the religious component of the population. All religions lead to the same God – CO-EXIST and follow me to the world wide church of the true god.

Revelations 13:11 Then I saw another beast, coming out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, but he spoke like a dragon.

He too will start out as meek and religious but like the Man-of sin and lawlessness, the anti-Christ, the false prophet also will be exceedingly cruel and vicious behind his guise of piety.  He will be a cunning and deceptive miracle worker who will call fire down from heaven. So great will his satanic power be that there will be many who will listen to him as he points many toward worshipping the image of the beast that he himself worships.

2 Thessalonians 2:9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10 and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth …11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie

It will not end well for either the anti-Christ or beast –

Revelations 19:20 But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur.

But, until the Lord’s intervention at the time of his fulfillment they are nothing but destroyers, destroyers… the greatest part of their destruction comes in the second 3 ½ year campaign of terror this is what we know as the great tribulation.

This great tribulation will bring about physical suffering like no one can even begin to imagine. It will start by the Beast breaking every covenant that he made with the world – physical suffering of Israel, which at that point will there be such abominations released on the earth.

Revelation 16  is a picture of The Seven Bowls of God’s Wrath being poured out on the Anti-christ, the prophet and all those who took the Mark of the beast.

Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go, pour out the seven bowls of God’s wrath on the earth.”

2 They begin with ugly and painful sores breaking out all who took the mark of the beast and worshiped his image.

3 Followed by all the oceans and seas turningt o blood which kills every living thing in the sea.

4 Then the rivers and springs of water, become blood. A payback of sorts for the shed blood of the saints and prophets … blood is the only thing to drink.

8 Then the sun was given power to scorch people with fire. 9 They are seared by intense heat and they cursed the name of God, and refuse to repent and glorify him.

10 Next is throne of the beast, his kingdom being plunged into darkness. Where men  gnaw their tongues in agony 11 and continue in their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent.

12 Then great river Euphrates, is dried up to prepare to prepare for the coming armageddon. 13 Three evil spirits are then released that looked like frogs; they came out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 They are spirits of demons performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty.

17 Then comes the last bowl of Gods wrath.  18 Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and a severe earthquake. No earthquake like it has ever occurred since man has been on earth, so tremendous was the quake. 19 The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed.

Every island sank into the blood red oceans, mountains crumbled into the earth andcould not be found. 21 From the sky huge hailstones of about a hundred pounds each fell upon men. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible.

At the end of this 3 ½ years of great tribulation there is no restraint upon antichrist, this is all out spiritual warfare of the ugliest being seen in the visible world. At the end of these 3 ½ years of tribulation is when the war to end all wars occurs.

The battle of Armageddon in the valley of Megiddo occurs. Those secured by the Lord for that day and the Lord himself leading the armies of Heaven will meet Satan and his unrepentant survivors along with what ever hoards of hell remain

Revelations 19:11–16 (NIV84)

11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:

king of kings and lord of lords.

Only In God’s great grace and mercy, may we be spared from that day, but if it be our lot to suffer through it, may we be blessed to do so in a way that brings honor and glory to our dear Savior who suffered so much for us

Philippians 3:21 – Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

1 Corinthians 15:44 – It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

The Return of the Lord
1 Thessalonians 4…15For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.…

While the Bible doesn’t describe in detail the glorified bodies we will receive in heaven, we know that they will be like that of Jesus’ resurrected body. Our human bodies are described in 1 Corinthians 15:42–53 as perishable, dishonorable, and weak, all due to sin. Our glorified bodies will be imperishable, honorable, and powerful. Our new bodies will be no longer “natural” bodies, but “spiritual” bodies, no longer focused upon the natural senses but at one with the Holy Spirit.

As imperishable bodies, they will no longer suffer from sickness and death, nor will they ever be subject to heat and cold or hunger and thirst. Our new bodies will be honorable in that they will not be shamed or shameful because of sin.by Matt Slick

Glorification is the future and final work of God upon Christians where He transforms our mortal physical bodies to the eternal physical bodies in which we will dwell forever.

1 Corinthians 15:42-44, “So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body; 43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.”

Jesus is the first resurrected from the dead in a glorified body.  He is called the first fruits of creation.  1 Corinthians 15:20 says, “But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.”  Since He is the first fruits, we will follow.  His resurrection is the promise and guarantee of our future resurrection.

In describing the attributes of resurrected bodies, we can derive certain qualities from the appearances of Christ after His resurrection.  He retained the open wounds of His crucifixion (John 20:27-28) and, therefore, probably had no functioning circulatory system and would not need to eat–though He was able to eat.  Since the wounds were still open if blood circulation were still occurring, it would have been expelled from the body through the wounds.  So, apparently there is no need for functioning blood in the resurrected bodies.

Also, Jesus had the ability to simply appear and disappear at will.  Mark 16:14 says, “And afterward He appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table . . . ”  In John 20:26 we find, “And after eight days again His disciples were inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst, and said, “Peace be with you.”  Therefore, we can conclude that we will be able to do the same.  Finally, death has no power over Jesus, so it will have no power over us in our new bodies, and we will live forever, healthy, without being subject to death again.

1 Corinthians 15:51-53, “Behold, I tell you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. 53 For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.”

I am preaching this sermon today because probably 80% of you have never heard this message at all and the other 20% it may have been since awhile since you last heard it and if you are like me probably still pretty confused about it to begin with.

Lets start with what we do know. The event that towers over most of human history as far as you and I are concerned was the advent of Christ. Jesus (messiah) coming to earth as a baby born of a virgin, who would live, die and rise again conquering death, the grave Satan and sin for you and I The next event comparable to importance will be the revelation and return of Christ in all of his Glory.

Matthew 24:29–31

29 “Immediately after the distress of those days

“ ‘the sun will be darkened,

and the moon will not give its light;

the stars will fall from the sky,

and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’

30 “At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. 31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

Today my specific subject of “The Return” revolves around the

rapture of the church. (And what to do if you miss the rapture.)

1 Thessalonians 4:16–17

16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

1 Corinthians 15:51–52

51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

Although you will not find the word rapture anywhere in  scripture the concept is found over and over again throughout the word of God

However, you also need to know that there are many distinct and controversial schools of interpretation regarding the event, the sequence and the exact timing of the Rapture.  One knows what will happen, but nothing about when it will happen.

1) There is the position that it will be a Pretribulation Rapture.  This is the belief that the rapture of the Church will come prior to the tribulation; and the actual return of Jesus to the earth, will take place roughly seven years later.

2.) There is the position known as Mid-tribulation/rapture. This is the belief that the rapture of the church will come at the half way point or 3 ½ year into the tribulation. Anti-Christ revealed (3 ½ years of Satan’s wrath; Church raptured followed by 3 ½ yrs of Gods wrath) Jesus returns at end of seven years with church and sets up millennium reign.

3.) There is also the position of Post-tribulation/rapture.  This is the belief that the rapture of the church will happen at the end of the seven years of tribulation. This belief is where the surviving church will meet Jesus in the air and then come back to rule and reign with him during the thousand year millennium.

My goal in telling you these three  is as in most cases I’m not simply trying to indoctrinate you but to educate you and spur you towards your own research.

As Dorothy Pitts has quoted often – A man convinced against his opinion is of the same opinion yet!

To the Romans Paul writes: “Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.” Romans 14:5b

What ever the timing may be the truth remains the same that there is will come a time when  “the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.”

In this passage, Paul is describing an event in which Jesus Christ will come “in the clouds” and snatch away His true followers from the earth in an instant of time.

Here is the most important of all facts gathered from all the last days viewpoints I have ever studied. Only those who have chosen to follow Christ, those who have “born again,” will experience this rapture.

No matter what way you look at it or believe:

1.) whether pre-tribulation where the Christians are gone, and those left behind will have to go through a terrible time of wars, famines, natural disasters, and divine judgments known as the Tribulation.

2.) Whether the rapture happens in the middle of tribulation prior to the wrath of God being poured out in full force

3.) Whether its post tribulation and God raptures the church after the Great tribulation – just prior to the great white throne judgment.

The ones who don’t know Christ will be the worst ones off in all the three instances.

No matter where you stand (and for me people trying to convince you of one or the other is not as important as teaching you to be ready for the event itself.)

In Revelations 19:11–20:6, the apostle John writes,

My first question to everyone in this house today is are your ready for the Rapture, are your ready for potential tribulation, are you ready for Satan’s wrath to be poured out?

My second question to everyone is are you sure?

How many of you have ever run out of gas? I cannot verify these facts but I have heard that every year at least a 600,000 people in Canada call for help because they have run out of gas. Running out of gas ranks right up there in the reasons why people call for roadside assistnace. One might understand this if you drive an old jeep or even happening a generation ago, when gas gauges were not entirely accurate. But now we have warning lights warning messages that our fuel is running low and then additional progressively urgent warnings indicating just how many estimated KM of driving we have left. One must say that most people who run out of gas are “without excuse.”

The warning buzzers are everywhere today:

Matthew 24:4–5 (NIV84)

4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.

 Matthew 24:10–11 (NIV84)

10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.

Matthew 24:23–28 (NIV84)

23 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible. 25 See, I have told you ahead of time. 26 “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the desert,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28 Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.

we may not have been meant to know the exact day nor meant to know the exact hour. We are meant to clearly recognize the “season” of our Lord’s return.

Jesus urges His disciples to stay alert, because though they, too, do not know the day or the hour of His return. It draws closer with each passing day.

As your Pastor I’m urging you to be ready really ready for I do believe we are in the season of last day events and the rapture could come any moment, and if it doesn’t occur at the beginning as some predict then the birth pains of tribulation if not already started can come in an instant, and if that is the case the time of judgment is around the corner and when poured out will be like no one ever dreamed – a time of suffering and pain and disease…

During the tribulation, there will be an influenza that wipes out most of the population.  There will be hail stones, the Bible says, that fall from heaven – a hundred pounds in size.  The Bible speaks that when God’s presence leaves this earth, there will be destruction like the world has never known.

In Matthew 25:1-13 speaks of ten virgins waiting for the coming of the Bridegroom.

They all had oil in their lamps and they all went out to meet the bridegroom.  Five of them were wise and five were foolish.  Five let their lamps go out and they had no oil, and when the bridegroom came, they were left behind.  But five were ready.  I ask you, are you the ones prepared?  Do you have oil in your heart, in your life?  Are you burning strong for Jesus?  Or would you be some that would be left behind?

13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

In Matthew 24

The Bible said that two will be grinding at the mill.  One shall be taken and the other left behind.  The Bible says that two will be working in the field.  One shall be taken and the other left behind.  In Luke 17:34 The Bible says two will be asleep in bed.  One shall be raptured, the other left behind.

Matthew 24:40–44 (NLT)

40 “Two men will be working together in the field; one will be taken, the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding flour at the mill; one will be taken, the other left. 42 “So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. 43 Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into. 44 You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.

Luke 17:30–36 (NLT)

30 Yes, it will be ‘business as usual’ right up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed. 31 On that day a person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack. A person out in the field must not return home. 32 Remember what happened to Lot’s wife! 33 If you cling to your life, you will lose it, and if you let your life go, you will save it. 34 That night two people will be asleep in one bed; one will be taken, the other left. 35 Two women will be grinding flour together at the mill; one will be taken, the other left.*”

But let me bring it down to the vernacular of our present day.

Two will be driving on the highway and the trumpet of the Lord shall sound.

In the air,

At the hospital,

Close:

There will be no dramatic warnings going off  that “the day” or “the hour” (of judgment) has come. Two men will be in the field, going about their normal daily routine; one will be taken, the other will be left. Two women will be grinding grain, just as they normally would; one will be taken, the other will be left

Are you ready?  Would you be taken and your children left behind?  Or would your children be taken and you be left behind?

Today there is still time.  Every head is bowed, every eye is closed in this great room.  I wish I could have really made it as bad as it is.  This didn’t even touch it.  If I could really show you what the tribulation period will be like, where the water turns to blood, and the sun and moon turns…  If I could show you the horror and despair, and the hopelessness, you’d run quickly to Jesus.

If I could bring just one person from the tribulation period and let him stand, he’d scream “Don’t…don’t wait, don’t wait.”  I could evacuate hell of anyone going there if I could bring one person from the tribulation.

MESSAGE NOTES:
Thanksgiving 2015

Who is it that is always…always making you more than a conqueror?

Who is it that always leads us and …causes us to triumph?

Who is it that at all times leads us in victory?

2 Corinthians 2:14  14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.

The framework for miraculous intervention

Message Intro: I have reason to believe that I am being strongly led of the Lord to share this message with you this morning. (I mean in a more than usual way.)

It has come with strong confirmations both prior to me choosing the particular passage of scripture I will share;

For this scripture not only has been placed before me by what I believe to be Gods leading for this thanksgiving message

but it also serves as a historical reminder in my heart of how important this particular passage has meant to me and our assembly personally in past years

In addition it becomes relevant to me as recent events of the past week and month point me toward our task as the body of Christ in advancing toward our future. Not only that but I felt the tug of the Holy Spirit in helping me focus on the immediate responsibilities of the coming year and the direction in which I have felt that we as a congregation are to head in.

Take your Bibles now and I want you to turn with me to a special passage of scripture that is found in II Kings, chapter 4.  Where all that I have just said comes to life for me in this very real miracle of thanksgiving.

It all starts when a Widow Asks Elisha the prophet for Help

And Gods prophet shows compassion and indeed helps the widow.

REMEMBER: James 1:27 (NIV84) 27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

(Reading NCV II Kings 4, beginning with verse 1)

4 The wife of a man from the groups of prophets said to Elisha, “Your servant, my husband, is dead. You know he honored the Lord.(the husband knew Elisha)  But now the man he owes money to is coming to take my two boys as his slaves!”

Elisha answered, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?” what do you have in your house?

“Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, except a little oil.”

Then Elisha said,Go and get empty jars from all your neighbors. Don’t ask for just a few. Then go into your house and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and set the full ones aside.”

So she left Elisha and shut the door behind her and her sons. As they brought the jars to her, she poured out the oil. 6 When the jars were all full, she said to her son, “Bring me another jar.”

But he said, “There are no more jars.” Then the oil stopped flowing.

She went and told Elisha. And the prophet said to her, “Go, sell the oil and pay what you owe. You and your sons can live on what is left.”

The framework for miraculous intervention

I am going to share a few thoughts on “ How to set the framework for miraculous intervention!” (I don’t go as far as saying “How to guarantee and receive a miracle!” because I never think that you can guarantee something that only God can do, but I do believe that we can set the frame work stage for God to miraculously intervene in your situation and pour out his blessing in a spectacular way in your life.

I am sharing this thought on thanksgiving Sunday because I truly believe that there are those among us that truly need a miracle in their life. So this is my attempt to give you a few thoughts that might help you set the framework in preparing for the miracle you need to arrive!

Point one:   setting the framework for miraculous intervention

know where to go when you don’t know what to do.

Know where you need to go when you don’t know what to do.

“Pastor, I just don’t know what to do.  I have no direction for my life.  I know I need to do something, I have a need, I have a lack. What shall I do?

” When you don’t know what to do, you need to know where to go.

She was a widow, she was a single parent, and she was in an impossible situation.

She had no food; she had no means of support.  As a matter of fact her creditors, if she did not pay the bill — and they were hounding her — were going to come immediately and take her sons from her.

The only thing that she had going for her was that she knew where to turn.

To where her husband had studied and belonged, to the place God was glorified, and to those who could assist her in finding God. (Israel had drifted from the Lord for some time … war, famine; disobedience had left Israel with out much direction   God was her only hope! She would go to the school of prophets where she may receive a WORD from God.

Only God could intervene and make a miracle happen in her situation.  She would go to God.

Setting the framework for miraculous intervention begins with where you choose to place your expectations. where you choose to place your Expectations determines whether you are preparing to receive a miracle.  If you continue to look to a man to supply all of your needs you will only be continually disappointed. Man is mortal, he is finite his life comes to an end and it literally is in the hands of God.  So don’t go to man with your troubles for he is finite like you. ”

The major battles of life are spiritual battles and only spiritual resources will cause you to triumph.

God wants to show you His hand, God wants to show you His power.  God wants to help you, but if you continually are turning to man, to man’s resources alone, God may just say, “Go ahead. Trust in man if you wish, but he will inevitably fall short.”

Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV84)

5     Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

6     in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Knowing where to put your trust is the first step in setting up miraculous intervention

Point two setting the framework for miraculous intervention

find out what is in the house.

find out what is in the house.

Like the widow I am afraid that we get caught up so much in what we don’t have, that we do not see the possibilities of what we already have. (More always seems to be the allure of our culture.)

Here is an amazing insight to setting the frame work for miraculous intervention in your current crisis. – Elisha directed the widow’s faith and he asked, “What do you have in your house?”

Most people see clearly their need. The widow had a clear vision of her need – – my sons, no food, no money …but what she really had greatest need of was to see what God had already blessed her with – she needed a new vision. But it wasn’t on stuff she needed a new vision of Jesus– fix your eyes on Jesus.  She needed a lesson on Jehovah Jiereh  – the Lord her provider.

If I would ask you this morning what you don’t want to have happen in your life most of you could answer me.  If I would ask you to give me a vision of what your present circumstance are many could do that. But If I would ask you to give me a clear vision of your future. I’m afraid most of you would have only a fuzzy vision.

I spend my job as a pastor of this church trying my best to convey that in Jesus there is a new vision of triumph. (Write down where you want to be in 10 yrs, 2o yrs.)

The widow needed to recognize that God already had given her the beginning of a miracle – and it was right in her own house. She didn’t see it because it was too small.

When I went I came as  pastor to MCC I could not imagine what would come … I did not realize that the seed planted in 1997 by a few spirit led Believer’s could turn out to be the miracle that it has become.  But you never despise the day of small beginnings … but I always had a vision of what it could be…

The mighty oak tree began as an acorn.

The mighty avalanche began as a snowflake.

The resurrected Christ began as a babe in the manger.

The widow’s response began with  … Your servant has nothing there at all,”

Don’t ever say that … “Your servant has nothing there at all …”, because the Bible says in many places Mt.13:12  for the one who has nothing, the little that he has will be taken and given to another.

In our world many want to take from those that have and give to the those that have-not, but in God’s system He often seizes from those that have not and give even more to the haves.

Why? God is not going to give more to those who have not been faithful with what He has already given. But He will give even more to those who have revealed to Him a genuine desire and obedience to honour Him with what He has already placed in their hands, with those people he will entrust even more.

(I believe that Once a church or ministry reveals that it is not a faithful steward with what God has done you will see over time its demise )

If you want God to begin to pour out his overflow & blessings in your life, do your best to prove that you are a good investment

Setting the framework for miraculous intervention means finding out what is in your house.

House of MCC has miracles in it!

Point three, setting the framework for miraculous intervention

Dispel all doubt find all faith

Dispel all doubt find all faith

I realized that those raised in bondage and raised with a negative mindset have a hard time seeing whats around them – the miracles that are literrally around them.

I know how easy it is to say “Your servant has nothing there at all

However, in the preparation for receiving a miracle you must do all you can to dispel doubt and not to be blinded by negativity. Speak positive words, find something, find someone – flee the nay sayers, the doubters, and the faithless. You must dispel negativity and doubt and pass on to the positive.

Do you know what our first reaction is in a crisis?  It is always negative.  Our first reaction is this, “Nothing good or right can come out of this.  There is no hope.

That was the widow’s frame of mind at first.  She said, “Your servant has nothing there at all She started with the negative, but quickly she finds a little bit of faith to hang her hopes and speaks it aloud “Except a jar of oil.”   (Speak with hope even if it’s a flicker, speak even before you see it… Say with me “I have hope” )

She finds a little faith and passes to the positive.  Here is what you need to do to set the stage for miraculous intervention.  It’s O.K. to start out negative, but just for a minute.

Nothing could be more important for you than to pass quickly from doubt to faith from the negative to the positive, because when you look at God’s possibilities you suddenly pass from the natural to the supernatural.  In the natural there is no answer, but there is in the supernatural

It would have been very easy and very natural for this grieving widow to have simply said, “There is nothing in the house,” period.  End of sentence, end of paragraph, end of the story

It is easy to say, “I have nothing.”  It takes faith to go on and say, “Nothing, except a jar of oil.”  (Pull out a jar of oil.)  Man alive, what can you do with a jar of oil?  Nothing except one small possibility, nothing but one asset.

It takes faith to go on and say, “Nothing except this awesome jar of HOPE.”

We have nothing but this little boy who has five loaves and two fishes, but what is that among so many? What can you do with five fish and a couple of loaves of bread”

The little nameless widow who dropped two pennies in the offering as Jesus watched – her message has become a message for the ages that even today we preach about. Those two pennies have made such a loud noise that it is still resounding around the earth today. (The loudest gift ever!)

Those two little pennies have brought about more impact around the world than what any Taylor Swift song could bring or what all of Bill Gates billions could buy.

What do you have in the house, what do you have in your heart. I have nothing but one small dream.  We may have nothing but one little insignificant thing to give to God to use but oh what he can multiply.

Do not despise the small thing you have because God can make it huge fed the multitude with two fishes and five loaves.  Do not despise, small amounts of faith …. If you have faith the size of a mustard seed you can say to this mountain be thou removed and cast into the see… (Mountain be cast into the see)

You see faith does not deny present realities, it just acknowledges that all things are possible with God.  It serves no purpose to say, “The problem doesn’t exist,” or, “A miracle happened,” when it didn’t happen.  You only deceive yourself.  However, faith in God just changes the way you see things, you still say, “Nothing…  But I have got a jar of oil.  I can start a miracle with what I have got.”

Number four, in setting the stage for miraculous intervention.

action is required…

action is required

When you enact God will enable… in the preparation for receiving a miracle you have to put faith into action!

Elisha told that widow that day to take some action if you want to get out of your dilemma.  Then Elisha said,Go and get empty jars from all your neighbors. Don’t ask for just a few.

There is always a “go” in the gospel.  Like the widow you will have to get active if you are going to experience the miraculous intervention you are looking for .  Most people want God to act on their behalf before they do anything, the reality is that first you must act by faith on your own behalf.

Sending the boys out to collect empty jars may have been a humbling task but it was what God required before he brings the miraculous intervention. …

I want to thank God for the people who had faith to go out 18 years ago and collect empty vessels and bring them into this house. People for one reason or another responded to Gods assignment, who took chances with Jody and I who gave to the work of God that Jody and I had come to do.

And what no one knew at the moment but God, was there has always been  more available in the house  then we could ever have dream of.

I want to thank God for the board of this church.  The board of this church, when we were deciding what size to build, brought a group of very positive men together, a think tank of dreamers in our church.  We were talking about what size to build the building.  I don’t know if it was a deacon, I don’t think it was a deacon as I thought about it today, I think it was somebody that they had invited in to that circle of love who said, “Let’s build it to seat ten thousand people.”  I talked them out of it.  I said, “Let’s build it for three thousand.”  We compromised and built it for sixty five hundred.

Number five, in setting the stage for miraculous intervention.

Don’t put limitations on How God will provide…

Don’t put limitations on How God will provide

The Lord said to her through the prophet, “Go Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbors. get as many as you can. ”  Can you believe that there is a time when you should borrow.

Some people say you should never borrow to build a church. Just think of all those we would not have been able to touch if we where still back in the sprung down the street. What would our assembly look like if we hadn’t put our name on the line to build this building?  I know it is hard to step in faith, I know it hard to trust God to provide, but if you are looking for miraculous intervention then we have to put our selves in positions where only God can provide.

You see, in the spiritual world we must attempt things that are so big that everybody knows that if that dream comes to pass it had to be God, or else they would have fallen on their face.  You know that is why I think God gets so much glory out of MCC.

Once the jars arrived it was time for the miracle to appear – the framework for miraculous intervention had been set.  The widow has done everything she could, (You have done all you can to create the frame work for miraculous intervention) and all that’s left is to simply pour out what you have.

You have …. Turned to the Lord and put your trust in him … you have fixed your eyes on Jesus, you have found faith in the house, you dispel the doubt, you have obeyed by putting into action what God has asked you to do an now are believing him for a miraculous intervention – the only thing left is to lift up and pour out what you have and await to see the out come.

As they brought the jars to her, she poured out the oil. 6 When the jars were all full, she said to her son, said to her son, “Bring me another jar.”

But he said, “There are no more jars.” Then the oil stopped flowing.

,

The miraculous intervention continued to overflow continued until all the jars were full…. And there was enough to pay her debt off as well as enough to live on after her debt was paid.

On this thanksgiving Sunday we are going to initae the overflow challenge

Today “I believe God is going to put it on the heart of those in our church a miracle of overflwo that will see a miriaculous intervention and provision …. rather than captial campaigns and meetings, and  all kinds of promotion on Sunday December 15th we are going to have a chance to see what God will do on one day as we bring our resources into the house right here.

MESSAGE NOTES:
Pre, Mid, & Post Tribulation

The Rapture

“ ‘the sun will be darkened,

and the moon will not give its light;

the stars will fall from the sky,

and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’

In Revelation 19:11–20:6, the apostle John writes,

Revelation 19:11–16 (NIV84)

Nehemiah

(The Importance of Fighting for Your Family)

 Nehemiah 4 :14

After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, Dont be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.

”Today I would like to share a “battle/fight plan” for us to follow as we contend/fight for our families based on this passage……

But before I do that I wanna share with you about how important the wall was to the people of Israel;

Rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem was an important sign to the enemies of Israel.

A city with broken walls would reveal that they were a defeated people. The Jews who had returned to their homeland were both in unsafe conditions and humiliated at living in a destroyed city.

One of the most overwhelming or confusing parts of any missions experience that I have had, is seeing those who are believers, living in absolute poverty, unafraid of the future and overwhelmed with joy.

For most of you, if you have ever been to a third world country, that is a statement you have either said or heard: HOW CAN THEY HAVE SO LITTLE AND BE SO FILLED WITH JOY?

This is a question that I have often found myself asking, but until this trip I was unaware of the very clear and revealing answer- an answer that highlighted my view of God, and my obsession with this world.

I love our senior pastor- and one thing he is so good at is making sure that we, as a church body, are growing together- even if it is just one passage of scripture a year. About two years ago- for an entire year, pastor Jay had us ready Psalm 23. This is a verse we as a team have said countless times, and us as a congregation have come to know. However, this week in LA, thanks to the ministry of Angelsus Temple and Micah Carter, something has come alive for me.. Lets read together.

Eternal Destinations Parts 1, 2, 3, and Hell

August 9, 16, 23, and 30, 2015

Eternal Destinations: –

The way in which we perceive the eternal will most certainly shape the way in which we live today and all our tomorrows. That is why we must study the darkside of eternal DESTINATIONS.

The holocaust of hell

There can be little doubt that our world is moving further and further away from belief in the biblical truth of  sin and punishment for sin. What once was a commonly held  reality is no longer. Even those within the church world have backed away from the thought of “All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.”

You need to be clear that there is no way to prove or disprove the reality of hell.

Some would have challenged me to prove the existence of heaven in order for them to believe… I have countered “prove to me that hell does not exist and I will stop preaching.”READ MORE

Family Meeting

July 26, 2015

I honestly, from my heart, thank God for Mapleview Community Church . I really do, I pray for you. I see how far you’ve come, and I am so encouraged with your desire to grow in Faith. I ‘ve witnessed the sincerity of your Faith, which many of you received, initially because you were raised in a Christian home,  your parents and grandparents, extended family, were ones who influenced you in your Faith. Others of you are in Faith because of a friend who extended Love to you and their best efforts at serving Jesus, and now you’re here, being rooted in Faith and relationship with God and people.

6 And Today, because of this, I want to encourage you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you. Some of you have a stirring deep within you, it’s the Spirit of God ! There’s GREATNESS within you, there’s dreams and visions, there’s been something going on in you.READ MORE

Love God, Love People

July 19, 2015

LETS RETURN TO THE BASICS OF OUR FAITH and  remind everyone that the very basis of our Faith, of Christianity is …. LOVE.

A LOVE that is self-less, …… a love that gives, …… a love that forgives, …..a love that resists the temptation to Condemn other people and their lifestyle , ….EVEN ….when we think we’re right.

Christianity MUST always reflect LOVE, OR, listen to this, it ISN’T Christianity.

Christianity equals Love, Christianity equals GRACE, or, undeserved favor. Christianity is Forgiveness that you don’t deserve,…. But you still receive it. Love that isn’t justified, ……but still you receive it.

We need to consider those who live a lifestyle that we may disagree with…. And instead of “shaking our head” in disapproval, we extend our hands to shake in Love and acceptance, IN SPITE of our differences.
